It`s Magic
This year, of the many hikers who started, not many will reach the finish, but you, dear Georg “Magic,” are one of the few who did. Moreover, you are the first Northbounder to have completed this trail. As the name suggests, the North-South Trail is not designed to be hiked northward, but of course, nothing stands in the way of doing so—except perhaps that the trail is marked only in one direction. None of that deterred you, and you continued your journey with determination.
You published your Penguin Diary in English, which may have helped attract a few international thru-hikers. Our deepest respect goes to your incredible record on the North-South Trail. It’s already challenging enough to run 170 kilometers straight in an event—something most people would find impossible. Yet you managed to cover 161 kilometers in 35 hours, with a full pack and no support stations. Simply incredible—or should we say, “It’s Magic?”
We wish you lots of fun on your future thru-hikes. It has been a pleasure to meet you several times on the trail. And never forget:
No pain, no dirt, no Haldenwanger Eck!
