NST GPX Tracks 2025

Hello dear North South Trail hikers,

the latest GPX tracks for 2025 are here! You can find the files labeled 2025.02 in the download section.

What has changed this year?

  • As promised, there are only a few modifications: Ferry crossing from Hamburg to the Heidschnuckenweg trailhead:
Unfortunately, the Elbe ferry service from Blankenese to Cranz has been discontinued. Instead, NST hikers now use Ferry 64 from Teufelsbrück to Finkenwerder. This ferry is well-equipped with toilets on board and numerous USB charging ports. It runs every 20 minutes. You can find a rough route description here.
  • The “North Sea-Baltic Passage” from Klanxbüll to Flensburg:
This change is somewhat unusual but necessary. From Aventoft-Rosenkranz, the trail now runs a few hundred meters through Denmark, following the northern bank of the Vidå River. We believe this offers a more pleasant hiking experience and better natural scenery than the boring and hazardous county road on the German side.
From Møllehus, the trail returns to Germany at Aventoft and continues past the fire station along the original NST route toward Süderlügum—leading directly to the Süderlügum trekking site.
This area on the district road was both uninteresting and risky and was in urgent need of adaptation.

For next year, another small change is planned at the end of the “North Sea-Baltic Passage.” Our dear Penny is currently hiking and exploring this section. Important: There will most likely be no NST stickers on this new short section this year.
